Now, Jill has paid tribute to her late husband on Instagram.
Jill posted a photo of Dennis with her and their four grown children in a happy moment.
She wrote as a caption, “To the love of my life- Dennis-I will miss you every day. Forever your legacy will live on in our children and our future grandchildren. Your intelligence, humor and of course your good looks will forever be engrained in our family!”
Banker Dennis, 51, was found dead of a suspected overdose on Friday, August 10, 2018 about 9 a.m. in his million-dollar Trump Tower apartment in New York.
The New York Post reported that the businessman — and The Real Housewives Of New York guest star — had allegedly overdosed on prescription pills.
Dennis reportedly asked his assistant to administer Narcan, which treats opiate overdoses, when he realized his life was in danger. But it was too late.
He and Jill were married for 26 years but separated in 2016. Despite their split, the former couple reportedly remained close friends and enjoyed their four kids together.
“Even though we did not live together, you still remained my best friend and my husband. Not many people were able to grasp our situation but it worked for us,” Jill also wrote in her loving post.
“We spoke everyday. I will miss that! I love you my dear husband. I am hoping up in heaven you are running around playing basketball and tennis without any back pain. See you again in forty years xo.”
Since his marriage split, Dennis dated RHONY star Frankel, but as RadarOnline.com has reported, their relationship was tumultuous.
As a source told PEOPLE, “Bethenny loved him a great deal but it was an unusual relationship.
“They were on and off. It was unconventional and not always exclusive. They would be together and then not.”
Dennis claimed he and Frankel had still been together about four weeks before he did an interview about their romance on the “Listen Up Show” podcast.
Tragically, he was soon dead of a suspected overdose.
