Has bad behavior on Nev Schulman‘s part doomed Catfish: The TV Show??
According to reports, MTV has temporarily suspended production on the beloved docu-series due to sexual misconduct claims made against the show’s host. Oof.
Per The Daily Beast, the network has hit the pause button on production in order to investigate an unspecified misconduct situation involving Mr. Schulman. As you likely know, Nev also serves as one of the TV program’s executive producers.
A spokesperson for the network confirmed the ongoing investigation by releasing the following statement:
“We take these allegations very seriously. We’re working with Critical Content, our third party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation.”
Man, oh man.
While it’s unclear what claim they’re officially investigating, YouTuber and former Catfish participant Ayissha Morgan recently uploaded videos detailing an incident she had with a previous show she was involved in. She does not use any name involved with Catfish, but many online commenters seem to believe she’s hinting about her time with Nev. You can watch her account HERE.
Schulman rose to fame thanks to his 2010 documentary film Catfish, which went on to serve as inspiration for the now MTV hit. He wed girlfriend Laura Perlongo in July 2017, after previously welcoming their daughter Cleo James in October 2016.
We have a feeling that more information will surface within the coming days. Be sure to stay tuned for any and all updates!
